What is Cellulite?

E.F.S.P. (Edematous Fibro Sclerotic Panniculopaties or Dermoedemato-fibro-sclero-panniculopathy) is incorrectly called “Cellulite”. To put it in simple terms Cellulite is fat combined with toxins and fluid.

ESPF is a micro circulatory condition that starts its process as edema (swelling of the tissue). The process continues with a fibrosis (a thickening and scarring of connective tissue most often following injury, infection, lack of oxygen, or surgery) which is followed by a sclerotic phase ( hardening and thickening of the body tissue) and finally a liposclerotic stage ( The hardening of the tissue surrounded by fat cells).

These micro circulatory problems are progressive and can lead to severe alterations at the extra cellular matrix level.

It is defined as a micro angiopathy of the subcutaneous connective tissues. It is of multifactorial etiology ( a condition related to inheritance depending on more than one gene) and it frequently starts during adolescence.
The Primary and predisposing factors are genetic, constitutive, and racial.
Secondary determining factors are hormonal and circulatory.
Mostly aggravating factors are nutritional, sedentary and pregnancy.
There are 4 stages of Cellulite
I. Compact Cellulite. III. Flabby Cellulite.
II. Edematose Cellulite. IV. Mixed Cellulite.

STAGE I:
Poor circulation is often responsible for changing the capillary permeability which produces internal and external edema. First signs of the orange peel and tissue degeneration (due to inadequate nourishment) and drinking of water.

STAGE 2 is a proliferating phase, in which there is hypertrophy and hyperplasia in the argentophile fiber net that covers the adipose cell; with the proliferation of pre collagenic proteins, capillary, adipose and reticular fibers. There can frequently be dermo edemas.

STAGE 3 : The pre collagenic fibers turn into collagen fibers and form
a thick net that includes several adipocytes (fat storing cells), forming the familiar non visible micro nodules (150 - 200 microns).
STAGE 4: The micro nodules meet gradually, forming macro nodules of 5 mm,
which are macroscopic and visible.

Lipocell Cellulite Treatment

Why Lipocell System is one of the Best systems for ESPF (Cellulite) and the reduction of adipose tissue in similar areas.

VDM Lipo Massage generates a cutaneous fold through a system of suction produced by negative pressure helping increase circulation. This process helps break up the macro nodules of stage 4 cellulite and favour Lymphatic drain at the same time.
Two (2) sessions per week are recommended for optimum results. One needs to ensure that a proper lifestyle of nutrition and exercise is in practice to accentuate the results.
A very thin body suit is being used to allow for the treatment of the skin.

Ultrasound: 3 Mhz. are vibrations with frequencies over the audible
Range. The waves of this high-frequency sound –ultrasonic vibrations- are responsible for the collapse of the bubbles in the adipose cells and around them and the breaking up of the micro nodules and elimination of the excess attenuated fluid that created them in the first place. This gets picked up by the lymphatic system and carried out through urination. This improves connective tissues structure in general.

The last step is microcurrents: 800 – 1000 Hetrz. Via Lymphatic drainage we are eliminating the excess fluid from the edematose tissue to allow for the healing and restructuring of the cutaneous tissue. This is the step that assists in the tightening and lifting of the skin. This is the final phase of the treatment and to a smoother looking skin.
The treatments that you will need depend on the phase of Cellulite you are in.
Phase 1 requires 3 treatments. Phase 2 requires 6- 7. Phase 3 10- 12 treatments and phase 4 Intense 15 treatments with a frequency of twice per week.

The Main Objectives in the fight of Cellulite and adipose tissue are:

  • Tissue decompression,
  • Lymphatic drainage, and
  • Increased circulation

Recommendations to prevent Cellulite:

  • A minimum of 10 – 12 glasses of water is a must
  • 20 minute of cardio exercise even if it is walking
  • Proper bowel elimination to avoid the recirculation of toxins in the blood stream.
  • For Best results avoid all alcoholic beverages and fast sugars
